Navajo weaving today has become a fine
art. Quality continues to improve as weavers work to perfect their
skills and experiment with new ideas and designs. Many younger
women are learning to weave, taught by their mothers and grandmothers.
Many weavers still use homespun wool and vegetal dyes, while others
are turning to colorful "Germantown" wools or other
commercially processed wool and aniline dyes. Whether the rug
or tapestry is woven from commercial or homespun wool, the result
is still a masterpiece of fine artistic talent. Proud owners of
these textiles frequently display these pieces on a wall or over
a piece of furniture. We maintain a broad selection of sizes and
styles in our store. We can also arrange for a custom tapestry
to be woven by one of the many fine weavers on the Navajo reservation.
