Cochiti Pottery Storyteller by Mary Quintana
6" high x 4 children
No. 2959 * $285.00
Mary E. Quintana-Baca "Parrot" is an award winning
potter. She was born in the Cochiti Pueblo in 1946. Mary was taught how to
work with the clay by her mother, and today she continues to make storytellers,
clay sculptures and nativities in the traditional hand-made methods of her
ancestors. The only exception is her brilliant colors that are painted with
acrylic paints. She gathers her own clay and sand for temper from the hills
surrounding the Cochiti Pueblo. After cleaning and mixing the clay and hand
shaping it and painting it, she fires her pieces in a kiln.
