Zia Pueblo is located slightly west
and somewhat north of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In an area of
poor land and little water the number one cash crop of Zia is
pottery. This pueblo has less than a thousand people living in
it, and very few make pottery. The few who are still making pottery
are doing a splendid job. Their favorite bird is the roadrunner,
often painted in different positions.
