Necklaces from Jovanna Poblano and Daniel Chattin

This talented couple makes some of the finest jewelry that comes out of the Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico. Jovanna is the daughter of Veronica Poblano, and grandaughter of Leo Poblano. Their entire family are well-respected artisans. Leo was an early fetish carver. His daughter Veronica has made her own wonderful reputation as a carver and as a jeweler. Daniel is one of the most creative artists in the use of stone and shell. These are award-winning artists whose work is sought after by many collectors. Most recently their work was on exhibit at the American Crafts Museum in New York City as part of the travelling exhibition called, "Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation." This is a fabulous exhibition of some of the finest avante garde Native American art "from 100 of the most talented, creative and innovative artists from the Southwest." Necklace

Jovanna used turquoise and sugilite beads in this dramatic necklace. Her pendant has a central piece of sugilite with 22kt gold beads and and three dangles of sugilite, turquoise and Swarovski gold glass beads.
